The brief
Brotomedia is a dynamic content powerhouse that seamlessly blends creativity with culture, creating content that speaks to today's digital audience. From comedic sketches and roasts to tech commentary and social insights, their content is designed to entertain, engage, and spark conversation. As part of their growing digital presence, Brotomedia needed thumbnails that would not only represent their bold, entertaining style but also help their videos stand out on YouTube, Instagram, and beyond. They required eye-catching, vibrant designs that captured the essence of their content while maintaining their unique voice and brand identity.
The thinking
Brotomedia's content spans multiple genres, from raw comedic sketches to insightful tech takes, requiring thumbnails that were both versatile and engaging. The challenge was to create a visual language that could flex across different content types while maintaining a consistent, attention-grabbing style. With their vibrant and bold brand identity, using the signature orange (#ff5102), I needed to ensure the thumbnails were instantly recognizable, conveyed the essence of each video, and connected with a wide-ranging audience on a variety of platforms. To kick off the project, I worked closely with Brotomedia’s team to understand their diverse content and audience. We focused on creating a template that could evolve across different video formats but retain consistency with Brotomedia’s high-energy, visually impactful style. Using the brand’s primary color and fonts (Moon Light & Supera Gothic), I explored different layouts, facial expressions, and dynamic backgrounds to create designs that were as bold as the content itself. Every thumbnail was designed with scalability in mind, ensuring it would be eye-catching whether on mobile or desktop.
